A Pea in the Pod’s Design Director on The Nine You Need
January 21, 2014|
As part of our series, The Nine You Need, 9BLISS sat down with fashion expert, Olivia Capone Myers – Design Director at A Pea in the Pod® – to discuss what’s on her must-have list for pregnant women.
In her busy role overseeing A Pea in the Pod’s design team, Olivia produces six luxury collections each year and travels the world to capture the latest trends in maternity fashion. Olivia recently welcomed her son Greyson and relied on innovative fashion, beauty and design products to help her conquer life as a hard-working pregnant woman. If you’re expecting and balancing a high-powered job — complete with global travel — here are the nine you need according to Olivia.
A Little Black Dress is a staple for any woman, and your pregnancy is no exception! It’s easy to pair with a blazer for meetings at the office and looks timeless for a more formal occasion like your baby shower.
Basq’s body oils are my absolute favorite, and post-pregnancy, I still use them every day. They moisturize, strengthen and tone your skin and have a soothing fragrance.
I was so excited to find this collection of modern and globally-inspired baby and children’s clothes because it really is one-of-a kind. I especially love the selection of boy’s clothes in stylish stripes and prints. Greyson loves to play in his Tea rompers!
As new parents, my husband and I received a lot of advice and book suggestions. After countless reads, we took a class on Dr. Harvey Karp’s The Happiest Baby on the Block method and were so glad we did. It gave us some helpful solutions for soothing our new baby while making us feel a bit more prepared. The class also gave my husband some tips he found to be useful for helping me and the baby.
Shapewear is key for helping you look and feel your best. The Blanqi body styler is a must for all expecting mommas, providing the ultimate comfort, support and shaping during your pregnancy.
My girlfriends swore by Aden + Anais swaddles, and now I do, too! They are light, and the more you wash them – the softer they become. This line is super stylish, pairing fashion forward design with organic muslin. I stocked up on swaddles, burp cloths and bibs, which Baby Greyson and I still use and love!
A sampling of some of my go-to products from Mama Mio, this kit includes Tummy Rub™ Stretch Mark Butter, Boob Tube™ Bust & Neck Firmer, and Lucky Legs™. The set is ideal for traveling and makes a great gift for a fellow mom-to-be.
We chose to be surprised about the sex of our baby and, at first, it was challenging to find concepts and decor for the nursery that were gender-neutral and still chic. Project Nursery is a great resource, with countless creative ideas for baby nurseries as well as children’s rooms and parties. We’re continually finding inspiration from it.
Maintaining your personal style and being comfortable are both important when you’re expecting. Destination Maternity’s patented Secret Fit Belly is a super comfortable and stretchy seamless panel available on your favorite bottoms from leggings to designer denim. You’ll have the support you need and room to grow. Plus, you’ll be able to rock your favorite styles of jeans – from skinny to boyfriend.
